This year we are offering our beautiful rehearsal area in Gorefield, Fenland for two residencies, providing an opportunity for artists to explore work at any stage of development.
Residency Dates
The site is available in July, September, and October and we invite you to propose your preferred residency dates within this time.
Is This Residency Right For You?
We welcome circus makers, performers, dance companies, individual artists, and those who work in outdoor arts to use the space from 3 -7 days, with an opportunity for a public sharing and feedback.
If you are thinking about applying, please consider the following:
The site in Fenland is wonderfully remote with no public transport access. Ideally, there will be one member of your team who can drive to/from accommodation. Live-in vehicles are welcome on site.
Please note, if you or your group are not comfortable working outdoors, this may not be the residency for you.
Onsite facilites include:
Off-site Indoor Options:
These are local indoor spaces, available by arrangement.
ADDITIONAL SUPPORT
Your residency will be supported by one of the Gorilla Circus Team who will be available to meet before the residency for a consultation. Topics covered can include anything from funding to marketing to international touring. We will do our best to support where we can.
We have strong connections with local groups in Gorefield, which is an area lacking in cultural opportunities for its residents. We feel passionately about producing creative experiences for our rural communities and invite artists taking part in the residencies to consider how they might engage with locals through delivering workshops or an open sharing of work in progress.
Subject to consent, we are happy to support your funding application as venue hire and Producer/Director time in-kind. With funding, you could extend your residency – please note this in the application form.
Gorilla Circus will provide a videographer for 1 day, providing you with a short film to promote your work.
We’re also happy to hear other ways that we can support, so please let us know
We are happy to accept applications in a format that suits you. If you would like to submit your application in video or voice note form, please email your file to [email protected] (5 mins max).
Set in the beautiful landscape of Fenland, Gorilla Circus Residencies offer a unique opportunity to focus on creation in a rural setting with the support of our experienced team. Taking part in a residency here gives you time to disconnect from the outside world and focus on creation.
This is a chance to explore and play in a natural setting, no matter what stage of development your work is in. We welcome applications from circus makers, performers, small groups and individual artists with an opportunity for a public sharing and feedback.
Our Residencies provide:
Unfortunately, we are not in a position to cover artist fees as we are not asking for a direct service.
Please see continued information about the residencies below, but if you have any further questions about applications or about residencies in general, feel free to email, we’d love to hear from you!
