Gorilla Circus was launched in summer 2009 with the aim of bringing flying trapeze classes to ordinary members of the public. The school is one of only two flying trapezes in the UK that are open to the general public, and the only circus school in London that takes place outside.
The school's first summer was a great success with our full sized flying trapeze touring several London parks from June to September. Hundreds of curious Londoners came for classes and a large number returned to improve their skills and progress to an intermediate level. Our daily 'Try'n fly' sessions offering a single swing for the experience and adrenaline rush were also very popular.
The Flying Trapeze School was featured in national media with appearances on the BBC, ITN and Channel Five. The school also received positive reviews from Time Out magasine and local newspapers.
This year the school will be returning to London's parks and open spaces from May to September, visiting locations including Regent's Park and The Roundhouse in Camden. The schedule will include 'Try 'n' Fly' tasters offering a single swing, and longer lessons where participants will learn a trick and have the chance to go for a catch. Gorilla Circus is also working with local authorities to run subsidised workshops for young Londoners
